II Participation conditions

A) Conditions for the usage of submitted data and work samples

The submitted material will only be considered by Haus der Kulturen der Welt, if the selected participant agrees, that

• a) her/his photograph and data may be published on the website as provided in the online application form. (These data can be customized by the participating curator at any time by logging into his/her profile)
• b) she/he owns the copyright and/or has the consent of any other copyright owner for the sample of paper or portfolio submitted, according to the relevant national and international regulations. She/he guarantees that no rights of third parties are violated by the material used in portfolio or paper submitted. The participant unconditionally and irrevocably declares her/his copyright responsibility towards third parties in case of disputes over copyright violations. In this respect the participant exempts SYNAPSE from all claims by third

B) General Participation Conditions

Selection of participants
Participants will be selected at the sole discretion of SYNAPSE. Applicants selected for participation will be informed by e-mail in December 2012. The list and profiles of selected participants will be published on the website www.synapse.info by this date.

Privacy
SYNAPSE respects each person’s right to privacy. We do not buy or distribute personal information or your samples of work for commercial purposes. Your application data and your sample of work will be treated confidentially. Only the staff of SYNAPSE and the jury members have access to your application data. If you are selected to participate in SYNAPSE, your profile data and your submitted paper or portfolio will be used as stated above

Conditions for the usage of submitted data and portfolios or papers In particular, it may be displayed in a database at SYNAPSE and on the website or related areas. The purpose is to improve communication between participants, experts and visitors.

Governing law
For the avoidance of doubt, this agreement is governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the event of any dispute arising out of or in connection with this agreement, exclusive place of venue shall beBerlin.
