Laughter is an essential element to generate health and well-being. It is a part of human behavior regulated by the brain, helping humans to clarify their intentions in social interaction and providing an emotional context to conversations. Laughter is sometimes contagious; the laughter of one person can itself provoke laughter from others as a positive feedback. Modern neurophysiology states that laughter is linked to the activation of the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, which produces endorphins after a rewarding activity. There is a positive link between laughter and healthy function of blood … Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress.
Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use. Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert.
Our Berlin Laughter Project has three focuses:
A – Use the main windows of shops, department stores and malls in central Berlin, especially those with televisions/screens/visual electronic displays in them. We are negotiating with some of these stores and companies for permission to show a looped video, designed by the artists, in these businesses at different times of the day. The video, created during 2011 specially for this project, will be a sort of “invitation to laugh” through a selection of testimonies of laughter.
B – Pursue the possibility of additionally presenting the video on the video monitors on the city’s U-Bahn trains.
C –Create a “meridian of actions and performances” in different locations in the city. There will be a program of actions with laughter yoga leaders and trained volunteers, short laughter yoga actions, and classes inviting people in Berlin to join us during the conference days. We will define a meridian of actions by specifying different sites in central Berlin where these performances will take place. At the same time, groups of volunteers will invite people from the public to join the laughter performances, incorporating the element of chance, in various forms of public transport in the city, such as trains, subways and buses.

Visiting Gozo and Malta was an extremely exciting experience considering the great history of the country and its geostrategic position in the Mediterranean Sea. Of course I was deeply interested in discovering the city of La Valetta, the capital of the country, its monuments and history, its present life as well as the landscapes of the islands, including the wonderful view of Comino Island, which was visible from the ferry on the way from Malta to Gozo. This trip was not only a good opportunity for us to meet again and talk about work, future projects and possibilities, but also a fantastic chance to discover the reality of a new island, one of my favourite “obsessions.” I had taken the opportunity to make this trip with my son and I must say that Norbert and Marisa were really very hospitable and they were wonderful guides during our days in Gozo.READ MORE AND COMMENT
